Large Scale Planes forum member Peter aka ‘airscale’ presents very interesting and above all useful article on using brass for detailing scale models. Brass is perfect material for all kinds of things in scale modelling being available in various sheet sizes and thickness. Can be easily annealed for easier bending and forming, cut, drilled, machined, sanded, painted and of course, easily soldered in contrary to aluminium. More rigid and resistant than copper it is also available in more different thickness gauges than any other modelling metal. This guide combined with fantastic ‘Soldering for Scale Modeling – by Paul Budzik’ article would improve your modelling skills and give you lots of ideas!
